What is theraphosa stirmi?

Theraphosa stirmi, also known as the Burgundy Goliath Birdeater, is a species of tarantula that is native to the rainforests of northern South America, specifically Suriname, Guyana, and French Guiana.

This tarantula is one of the largest species in the world, with females reaching sizes of up to 11 inches (28 cm) in leg span. The body of the Theraphosa stirmi is covered in dark brown or burgundy-colored hairs, hence its common name.

As with most tarantulas, Theraphosa stirmi is a nocturnal hunter and primarily feeds on insects, small rodents, and other small animals. They are solitary creatures and spend most of their time hiding in burrows or under vegetation.

Theraphosa stirmi is popular in the pet trade due to its impressive size and striking appearance, but they require a large enclosure with plenty of space to move around. They are not considered aggressive towards humans, but they have potent venom that can cause pain and swelling if bitten.
